Join us in The Slaughtered Lamb, where we celebrate the classic 1981 British-American comedy horror, An American Werewolf in London. Written and Directed by John (see you next Wednesday) Landis.

Starring David Naughton, Griffin Dunne and Jenny Agutter, the story tells the oh so familiar tale of American backpackers, who after first bumping into Brian Glover and Rik Mayal in a pub, get attacked by a  werewolf… anyhoo… fast forward three weeks and Naughton wakes up in a London hospital, and is visited by the zombie corpse of Dunne, who informs him he’s now a werewolf and had better do himself in, before the next full moon or else there’ll be bother. The rest you can probably guess as it’s in the title of the film.

An absolute stonker of a movie, that frights and delights in equal measures. It also features arguably one of the best ‘man to beast’ transformations of all time. Not only does the transformation look real, it looks god-damn painful too. Make-up Artist, Rick Baker, won an Academy Award for the special effects in this movie.  Great stuff! Stick to the road!

Dress code: naked, covered suspiciously in blood and lying, shivering in the foetal position.
