Age UK North Tyneside ‘Making more of Life’ has a mission ‘to improve the quality of life for older people’.
The Age UK North Tyneside Community Centre Whitley Bay are opening their doors for a special screening of the 1985 science fiction film, Cocoon, directed by Ron Howard. Starring Don Amache, Wilford Brimley, Hume Cronyn, Brian Dennehy, Steve Guttenberg, Maureen Stapleton, Jessica Tandy
An offbeat and charming comedy with elements of science fiction thrown in, director Ron Howard’s (Ransom, Apollo 13) fantasy ponders the price of immortality and the power of everlasting love. A group of Florida retirees become mysteriously rejuvented when their retirement home swimming pool turns into a fountain of youth. But, the magical powers stem from some cocoons left by good-natured, human-appearing aliens who have come back to retrieve them.
The film earned two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor (the late Don Ameche) and for Best Visual Effects.
Join us for a glass of wine and a special screening of Cocoon at the Age UK North Tyneside Community Centre Whitley Bay.
