The Whitley Bay Film Festival is organised by Primate Productions and celebrates great films in Whitley Bay, a town without a cinema. The 2011 festival screened films in Whitley’s Bay’s most iconic venues; St Mary’s Lighthouse, the Spanish City Dome and more.
Our screenings were themed events creating a unique experience for visitors, including; the Lighthouse screening of John Carpenter’s 1980’s classic horror ‘The Fog’ as well as King Kong, a celebration of Sci Fi films, a Classic Horror night and Dirty Dancing in the iconic Spanish City Dome, being just a few of the events that took place at this years festival.
The festival also featured screenings of classic features, independent short films, local audiovisual archive footage of our area, children’s screenings and artist’s films.

Thanks so much and what a wonderful experience.
I just wanted to say ‘Well done!” to everyone involved in the organisation and the running of the Whitley Bay Film Festival.
Everyone I have spoken to about the festival really enjoyed it and only have good things to say about the event. Thank you to all the volunteers too and lets hope we can look forward to another in 2012.
It made me proud to live in Whitley Bay.
