Calling all film makers and animators!! Whitley Bay Film Festival 2012 is now open for submissions of  films!! Festival Dates: 17th August – 2nd September 2012.

SHORTS: Your film must be 20mins or less, fiction or documentary. We are also on the lookout for films and animations of 5minutes or less in the following categories: Comedy,  Horror, Classic film spoofs, Comedy cinema trailers or adverts.

COMMUNITY FILMS: We are looking for films of 30 minutes or less that capture the essence of communities in the UK, films that have been lead through community projects and interesting stories of local people and places.

Deadline for submissions is 29th JULY 2012. Films can be submitted on DVD, Quicktime mov or Mini DV. Before sending your submission, please complete the form below. Many thanks.

Films must be submitted on DVD, DATA DVD as Quicktime movie or mini DV marked clearly with: the 'category', 'film title' and your 'name'.

The primary contact completing this submission form must be authorised to submit this film for consideration and must have obtained necessary permissions for the inclusion of copyrighted music and/or images within the films.
We can not guarantee that your film will be screened.
We regret that we cannot accept any responsibility for loss or damage of DVDs, DATA DVDs, CDs or mini DVs submitted.

THE FESTIVAL

The Whitley Bay Film Festival will take place from 17th August to 2nd September 2012.

The Festival aims to celebrate cinema in unique settings while showcasing the best of local talent.

The final selection of all films presented at the festival and their placement in the programme is the festival directors discretion.

ELIGIBILITY

The primary contact completing the submission process must be authorised to submit the film for consideration including permission from a distributor or sales agent representing the film and must have obtained necessary permissions for the inclusion of copyrighted music and/or images within the films.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILMS

If the original language of any dialogue or text featured in the film is not English, the preview and screening copy must be subtitled in English.

SELECTION PROCESS

All films are viewed in front of a panel of three industry professionals; the shortlisted films are then passed onto our Creative Directors for programming.

Successful entrants will be notified of their inclusion in the festival by the 4th August 2012. Those entrants who have not been successful will also receive an email.

FESTIVAL SCREENINGS

If your film is selected for the festival you may be required to provide a screening copy on mini DV. DVD for Arthouses.

PUBLICITY

Short clips/stills of films selected may be screened or used within publicity material/screenings/online to promote the event unless requested otherwise.

STILLS SPECIFICATION

You have the choice to submit 2 production stills when submitting your film.

Image size (Inclusion in Press Campaign): Minimum 15cm Width

THE SUBMISSION AGREEMENT

By agreeing to proceed with your submission you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions and your application can then be processed. Failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions may result in the submission being disqualified.

SUBMISSION DELIVERY

Please note that all shipping and postage costs to the festival must be borne by the submitting party, including those for the submission package and, if the film is selected, for all prints, tapes and additional materials sent to the Whitley Bay Film Festival. Whitley Bay Film Festival will not accept COD shipments and will not absorb any fees incurred in British customs.
When arranging delivery you must ensure that all import and export charges associated with the film are paid. It is advised that the stated value of the package is listed as being no more than 5 euros for customs purposes.
Packages should be marked;
